One Dish Meal

First and for most, what is the definition of a one dish meal?

According to Wiki Answers, it is a balanced meal that consists of dietary fibre, water, nutrients such as carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamin, minerals in one dish where everything is cooked together without having to prepare 3 seperate dishes.

So with this definition in mind, the dish that I will be cooking is Vegetable rice with slice chicken along side with salad. The method of cooking is stir fry and then cooked in the rice cooker. I have decided to change the buttered rice that I ate in the course of 3 days to this as it is healthier without the use of butter as we all know butter contains alot of butterfat that is very unhealthy and salty. I have transformed it in such a way that I will be able to cook all of them under one pot instead of 3 seperate dishes due to the definition that we have to cook a one dish meal.

For the stir frying, I will be using shallot, garlic as the spice. I will be using brown rice along with those packed mixed vegatables that can be found in NTUC. As for the chicken, I will be using chicken breast that will be sliced thinly and marinated with Peri-Peri Nandos Chicken Sauce found in bottles. All these ingredients will be stir fried using olive oil and after that it will be transferred and cooked in the rice cooker. While waiting for the rice to be cooked, I will prepare the salad. The salad will consist of cucumber, parsley and tomato along with olive oil.

The reason why I have chosen to use basmati rice instead of white rice is due to the fact that basmati rice has a lack of potassium and phosphorus makes both brown and white rice good choiced for patients with advanced kidney disease and other persons who must restric their potassium and posphorus. It will give us the energy with its 44.51 carbohydrates. As for the chicken, I have decided to use chicken breast instead of quarter chicken as of the original meal as the breast has lesser fat and is considered healthier. Despite the rice containing the vegetables and have fulfilled the requirements to of protein, carbohydrate and vitamin, I decided to make salad so that the presentation is nice. Also, salad has no artificial ingredients and they are all raw. This makes the dish even healthier.

The original dish has been transformed into this dish where butter isnt used to cut down on the fat and the saltyness. Also, different chicken part is used to ensure the meal has minimum fat. Raw and non artificial salad is used.

These ingredients have been carefully chosen to ensure that the meal is very healthy. Every choice counts in making a healthy yet delicious meal.
