Reflection

From this performance task, I have acquired new knowledge about dietary as well as my food intake.

After analysing my 3 day diet using the tools found at HBP website, I realise that my diet is quite unhealthy in a sense that when I exceed the reccomended amount, I exceed it by alot and when I don't meet the recommended amount, it is not met by alot. This shows that my intake of the various nutrients are imbalanced. I realise from the analysis that an unbalanced diet may lead to many other diseases such certain cancer and other major illnesses.

Using the tools found on the HPB website, it was very useful in helping me decipher my diet. I now know what my diet in those 3 days were made of. It also made me realise that there are some types of nutrients I would have to cut down on such as protein and saturated fat. Most of my nutrients had exceeded the recommended amount. This shows that I really need to be aware of my food intake.

Also, using the tools, knowing what I eat, I learnt that I need to live a healthy lifestyle. Despite over eating alot of things, I am still underweight. Through this analysis, it helped me in a sense that I know for myself, I have a high metabolism rate and its not that I do not eat enough as others would say. This helps be prove my physical health now.

Through this PT, I learnt about the composition of food in my diet. Some types of food contain more nutrients. Some are healthier than the other. This ensures that I am more caution of my intake.

Lastly, I feel that my 1 dish meal is really healthy due to the fact that I have cut down on most of the unhealthy items and changed them to even healthier ones. Despite that, I feel that there is still much room for improvement and that the dish can be made even healthier.

In conclusion, this PT has benefited me alot. Now I am more aware of my diet and I will ensure that my intake will be more balanced.

Too much or too little of anything is not good.
